Andy update for February

Hey everybody!
I am obviously AWFUL at updating folks on what I’ve been up to and I am sorry for that.
BUT… I am doing so now, so cut me some slack.
PAINTINGS & SCULPTURES is now on exhibition at the university galleries at Illinois State U. Curated by Troy Sherman.
This includes 12 paintings and 9 sculptures.
3 of the paintings are older but the rest are fresh and fine. A continuation of my Invisible Ink series. All the sculptures are new and made of bronze. This is my first adventure in metal sculpting. The whole thing started during my residency last March at the Yucca Valley Materials Lab.
“Hey, Andy, we know you are here on a sound art residency but take this wax, go make something and we’ll let you cast it and pour molten metal on it.”
And thats what I did

Here is a link to the ISU galleries page with all the info on the show and its ,[companion workshops.

EN ROUTE: JACKSON TUNNEL 2020 This piece consists of binaural field recordings captured during my transfers from the CTA Blue and Red lines on my way to Northwestern for class in 2019 pre covid. I composed it when I was actually missing public transit in June of 2020. Featuring sounds of blindness and subway life. A guy comes up to me and hands me dollar because I can’t see, I am assuming. Its a soundscape that would make R. Murray Shaffear anxious.
Def a headphones listen. available now
and soon…

and the long awaited Calculator Font album, ECCENTRIC FIXATION! Look for that in May. Eccentric Fixation is the scientific term for lazy eye, by the way. Makes my condition a little cooler knowing that it sounds something you wouldn’t want to admit that you’re into…
And maybe some other stuff. It’ll all be on all the streaming platforms, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon, YouTube,
Pandora, etc

The documentary called Possibilities will be screening at this year’s Garden State Film Festival. I did the sound design for this puppy. It includes 100 blind people that I respect and love saying some really smart things.

I love this compilation and you will, too. Who don’t love sound art and disabled people?

In the future…
Emily Cook and I have a collab exhibition at Carlton University Galleries this fall. It’s weird, just like Ottawa.. Its a very involved conceptual installation that is hard to explain right now…. More soon…

Me and Carmen Papalia and Quintron have worked to bring Q’s Weather Warlock to Vancouver, BC for permanent installation. More info on that soon as well as the Weather For The Blind WW live stream app we’re making with Fair Worlds.
Big performance with the Weather Warlock this summer in VBC…
